The definitive history of North Bros.
was laid out in a note to Jerry Serviss on the OldTools list in 1997.
In that letter, a purchase of the Deforest Screw Driver Company is
erroneously mentioned, but later corrected here. One characteristic
of North Bros. tools is that they seem to have sprung to life in fully
developed states without any further need for improvements. See my
type study of the 2100/2101 series of Yankee braces. Their line of
eggbeater drills and breast drills is another case in point, waiting
for further development on my part ... |
