B&D-64 Price: $40.00 plus shipping While the Millers Falls name is no longer legible, the No.13 marked on the frame along with the August 15, 1871 patent date on the chuck identify the origin of this brace, aided by Randy Roeder's webpage on Millers Falls braces. The chuck jaws follow Amidon's expired Barber's Improved patent No.73,279, granted January 14, 1868. The condition of the brace is excellent, with just the loss of 75% of the original nickel plating and a few wrench scrapes on the shell of the chuck. The wrist handle is rosewood, and the pad is lignum vitae, as indicated by its many small checks that are characteristic of the wood. |
