IMPROVED PLANING MACHINES.
Especially designed for strength, durability and ease of movement:
driven by heavy train of cut gearing into cut rack, thereby securing
smoothness of motion. Forward movement of table is obtained by belting
pulleys attached to gear shaft front or rear side of planer and quick
return on opposite side, as may best suit convenience of workman. Table
can be speeded to travel 40, 60 or 80 feet per minute, and will not
fail to shift smoothly, and same distance each time. Belt shifter is
independent of feed gear and under control of workman from either side
of machine. Table guides are self-oiling, prolonging the wear and
lessening the liability to cut. Dogs are provided with a catch or
hinged tongue that may be lifted to clear the shifter, allowing workmen
to run the work beyond the tool for inspection without moving position
of dogs. Uprights have broad bearings, being continued full width to
floor. Bed is well strengthened at and near the centre, where occurs
the greatest strain; feed operated from either end of cross head,
self-acting at all angles at either end of cut; capable of variations
from 0 to 5/8 of an inch in any direction. All beds have square ends,
allowing additional length connected if necessary. Cross head raised
and lowered by clamping nut top and bottom, firmly clamped to uprights,
as shown by cut, page 100.Comprise at present six sizes, as price list, page 102. |
