Earlier Massey historians have
told us something of the children of this James Massey, but they have
left gaps in the record that to date we have been unable to fill.
Let me first review what has been said:
Dr. W.F. Massey wrote:
"... Major James Massey (James the fifth of Queenstown) left no male
heirs, his daughter marrying into the Stevens and Seley[sic] families.:(1)
|
George Massey wrote:
"Major Massey of Queenstown was a brother of Elizabeth. Major
Massey left no sons but several daughters. One daughter married
James Seager, near Centerville; one married _______ Stevens, a merchant
of Centerville; another married _______ Boyd, of Baltimore."(4)
|
James Massey, in his 8
Dec. 1842 Will, refers to daughters Louisa Ann and Frances; also to
grandson James _______;" also to another grandson Thos. Jas. Seegar.(3)
|
|
Spouses of two of the daughters
of 10.James Massey have been
identified:
|
But, the precise identification
of the spouses and children of 97.Sarah
Massey and 99.Julia Anna Massey
remain open for other researchers.
