March [30], 1729: Daniel Toers (Toas) of [illegible] County sells for £3 to John Webb of Kent County in the Province of Maryland, all that part of the tract called New Town, lying in Kent County on the North side of Chester River and contained within the following metes and bounds: Beginning at a bound white oak standing on the South side of the Dead Branch, one of the branches at the head of Chester River, and running thence West down the said branch two hundred perches, thence South and by East one hundred sixty two perches, then East two hundred perches, thence [with a straight line] to the first bounded white oak, containing two hundred acres. Witnesses: George Pearce and Peter Massey; James Smith is Kent County clerk. |

[illegible] This indenture made this [17th] day of March in the third
year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Second, king of Great
Britain France & Ireland, defender of the faith and in the year of
our Lord one thousand seven hundred and twenty nine. Between Daniel
Toers (Toas) of [illegible] County the one part and John Webb of Kent
County of the other part. Witnesseth that the aforesaid Daniel Toers for
and in consideration of the sum of three pounds current money of this
province paid to the said Daniel Toers in hand the receipt whereof the
aforesaid Daniel Toers does acknowledge thereof and every part and
parcel and of himself to be fully satisfied contented and paid and of
every part and parcel thereof does fully clearly and absolutely acquit
exonerate and discharge John Webb his heirs and assigns forever by these
presents have given and granted bargained sold alienated enfeoffed
& confirmed and by these presents do fully clearly absolutely give
grand bargain and sell alienate enfeoff transfer and confirm onto the
aforesaid John Webb his heirs and assigns from me the said Daniel Toers
and my heirs forever all [illegible] part of a tract of land called New
Town lying in King County on the north side of Chester River and
beginning at a bounded white oak standing on the south side of a branch
called the Dead Branch belonging to a branch called the Cypress branch
one of the branches of the head of Chester River and running thence West
down the said branch two hundred perches then south and by East one
hundred sixty and two perches then East two hundred perches
thence to the first bounded white oak, containing two hundred acres of
land more or less together with all woods underwoods trees timber houses
orchards gardens ways waters courses and all and singular other the
right profits benefits privileges and all and singular other the
appurtenances to the same belonging or in any ways appertaining to have
and to hold the said tract of lands and premises with the appurtenances
thereto belonging unto the said John Webb his heirs and assigns and to
and for the only use benefit and behoove with him the aforesaid John
Webb his heirs and assigns from the aforesaid Daniel Toers his heirs
forever and by the aforesaid Daniel Toers and his heirs to covenant
grant and agree to and with the aforesaid John Webb his heirs and
assigns [illegible] Daniel Toers at the sealing and delivering here of
with good right and full power and lawful authority to sell and convey
the same the above bargained premises & every part and parcel
thereof. In witness whereof the aforesaid Daniel Toers have affixed his
seal to these [illegible] indenture the day and year above written. his Daniel Toers mark Signed sealed and delivered in the presence of George Pierce Peter Massey On the back of the preceding conveyance was endorsed as follows for Kent County in Maryland at a court held at the Kent County courthouse in the town of Chester in the aforesaid county on the 17th day of March Anno Domini 1729. Came the within mentioned Daniel Toers & acknowledged the within conveyance to the within named John Webb his heirs and assigns forever. Acknowledged in open court Test. James Smith, clerk Memorandum: the within conveyance received the 17th day of March anno Domini 1729 to be recorded among the records of Kent County according to act of assembly in such cases lawfully made & provided.
