November 1, 1760: Thomas Massey, planter of Kent County in the Province of Maryland, buys for £19 7/- from Luke Myers (Miers), also planter of Kent County, a part of the tract called Mier's (Myers) Luck that is enclosed within the following metes and bounds: Beginning at a large stone at the corner of Don Dulany's land, and also a corner of said Thomas Massey's land, and thence running from said stone West South West one hundred and forty perches, from thence North fifty three perches to the land of Elizabeth Bock, from thence East with said Bock's line to the first place of beginning, containing twenty one and a half acres. This indenture
made this first day of November in the year of our Lord Christ seventeen
hundred and sixty between Luke Myers of Kent County in the province of
Maryland, planter of the one part and Thomas Massey of the county
aforesaid, planter of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Luke
Myers for and in consideration of the sum of nineteen pounds seven
shillings current lawful money of Maryland to him in hand paid by the
said Thomas Massey before the sealing or delivery of these presents the
receipt whereof he the said Luke Myers doth hereby acknowledge and
confess and thereof doth hereby exonerate and discharge him the said
Thomas Massey his heirs and assigns forever more hath by these presents
granted bargained sold alienated released and confirmed and by these
presents doth grant bargain sell alien enfeoff confirm unto him the said
Thomas Massey his heirs and assigns all that part of a tract or parcel
of land called Myers Luck. Beginning at a large stone at the corner of
Mr. Don Delaney's land and also a corner of said Thomas Massey's land
and running from said stone West South West one hundred forty perches
from thence North fifty three perches to the land of Elizabeth Bock from
thence East with said Bock land to the first place of beginning
containing and now laid out for twenty one acres and a half of land be
the same more or less together with all and singular all manner of
profits and advantages and advantages of what kind so ever to the same
or any part thereof belonging or in any ways appertaining and the
reversion and reversions remainder and remainders of all and singular
the before granted premises to have and to hold the before granted tract
and parcel of land and premises with its appurtenances thereto
belonging and any part and parcel thereof unto him the said Thomas
Massey his heirs and assigns forever to the only proper use and behoof
of him the said Thomas Massey his heirs and assigns for ever more by
those presents and the said Luke Myers for himself his heirs executors
and administrators doth covenant grant and agree to and with him the
said Thomas Massey his heirs and assigns by these presents in manner and
form following that is to say that he the said Luke Myers now is and
stands lawfully rightfully and absolutely seized of and in the said
tract or parcel of land and premises with the appurtenances and every
part and parcel thereof above granted of a good sure perfect absolute
indefeasible estate of inheritance in fee simple without any condition
limitation contingent use or reversion to alter or extinguish the same
or any part thereof and that for and notwithstanding the same he the
said Luke Myers has in himself good rightful power and lawful and
absolute authority to grant bargain sell alien enfeoff and confirm the
said tract and parcel of land in every part and parcel thereof above
granted with their and every of their appurtenances unto the said Thomas
Massey his heirs and assigns forever and also that the said Luke Myers
for himself his heirs executors administrators and every of them shall
and will at any time hereafter at the request cost and charge in the law
of him the said Thomas Massey his heirs or assigns make do and
acknowledge in to execute or cause to be made done and acknowledged and
executed all and every such other and further lawful and reasonable cost
and ask thing and things devices conveyances and assurances in the law
whatsoever for the further and better more perfect and absolute
conveying and assuring of the said tract or parcel of land and premises
with the appurtenances above granted and every part and parcel thereof
unto the said Thomas Massey his heirs or assigns forever as by him the
said Thomas Massey his heirs or assigns or his or their counsel learned
in the law shall be in that behalf lawfully and reasonably devised
advised or required and also that he the said Luke Myers his heirs
executors and administrators the said tract and parcel of land with its
appurtenances and every part and parcel thereof above granted unto the
said Thomas Massey his heirs and assigns against the claims and demand
of all and all manner of persons whomsoever lawfully claiming or
hereafter shall claim the same or any part thereof shall and will
warrant and forever defend. In witness whereof he the said Luke Myers to
this present indenture has set his hand and affixed his seal the day

Calliston Received the first day of November one thousand seven hundred and sixty from Thomas Massey the within grantee the sum of nineteen pounds seven shillings current money being the full consideration money for the within bargain premises as witness my hand. Luke Myers [his M mark] Test.: Nicholas Smith Be it remembered that on the first day of November one thousand seven hundred and sixty came before us the subscribers being two of his Lordship's justices of the peace for Kent County the within granted Luke Myers and Elizabeth his wife and did acknowledge the within deed of conveyance and the lands and premises therein mentioned according to the true intent and meaning thereof to be the right title and estate of the within grantee Thomas Massey his heirs and assigns forever and also Elizabeth the wife of said Luke being first privately examined according to law to declared that she made the said acknowledgment freely and clearly and without being thereto induced by any fear or threatening from her said husband illegible before the acknowledgment aforesaid (and Elizabeth his wife) was interlined in the third line of this acknowledgment. Calliston Received November 20, 1760 of Mr. Thomas Massey ten pence sterling as an alienation fine on the within land due to the Lord proprietary and received for his use.
