22, 1762: John Massey, planter (son of James Massey, deceased) of
Queen Ann'e County in Maryland for 2 pounds, 2 shillings buys a 13.25
acre tract of land called Massey's Part of Friendship Corrected from
James Massey, planter. Witnesses: George Wells, and William

Anne's County [illegible]. June the twenty second day Anno Domini one
thousand seven hundred and sixty two the following deed was brought to
be recorded to wit.: This indenture made this eleventh day of May Anno Domini one thousand seven hundred and sixty two between James Massey of Queen Anne's County and Province of Maryland, planter of the one part, and John Massey, son of the late James Massey, deceased, of the county and province aforesaid, planter of the other part. Witnesseth that the said James Massey for and in consideration of the sum of two pounds two shillings sterling money of Great Britain to him in hand paid before the insealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof he the same James Massey doth hereby acknowledge hath granted, bargained, sold, aliened, released, enfeoffed, and confirmed and by these presents to grant, bargain, sell, alien, release, enfeoff, and confirm under the said John Massey, his heirs and assigns forever all that part or parcel of a tract of land lying and being in Queen Anne's County aforesaid called Massey's Part of Friendship Corrected, which is contained within the following lines and boundaries to wit: Beginning at the end of the first line of the aforesaid tract of land and running thence by and with the second line of the same tract of land north nine degrees West eighty eight perches and thence West South West twenty and five perches thence South nine degrees East eighty eight perches and from thence with a straight line to the beginning aforesaid at the end of the first line aforesaid containing thirteen acres and one quarter of an acre of land more or less together with all and singular the profits, emoluments, privileges, advantages, and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining and all the estate, right, title, interest, claim, property, and demand whatsoever in land or equity of him the said James Massey of in or to the herein before granted and sold land and premises with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging. To have and to hold the said granted and sold land and premises with the appurtenances unto the said John Massey, his heirs and assigns to the only property and behoofs of him the said John Massey, his heirs and assigns forever and the said James Massey for himself, his heirs, executors, and administrators, and for every of them doth forever quit claim and release all interest, right, title, claim, and demand whatsoever of in or to the above mentioned and sold land and premises with the appurtenances and the same by those presence is wholly released and is invested in and upon the said John Massey, his heirs and assigns forever. In witness whereof the parties aforesaid have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year first above written. Signed, sealed, and delivered in the presence of
On the back of the foregoing deed in was endorsed as followeth to wit.: Be it remembered that on the eleventh day of May Anno Domini seventeen hundred and sixty two James Massey the grantor within named personally appeared before us, the subscribers, two of his Lordship's Justices of the Peace for Queen Anne's County and acknowledged the within instrument of writing to be his voluntary act and deed and the land and premises within mentioned to be granted to the within named John Massey to be the estate and property of the said John Massey according to the true intent and meaning thereof acknowledged before us. On the back of the same deed was also thus endorsed to wit.: Received this [blank] day of [blank] 1762 of the within named John Massey the sum of two pounds three shillings sterling money of Great Britain being the consideration within mentioned to be paid by him to me.
On the back of the same deed was also thus further endorsed to wit.: Queen Anne's County to wit.: June the twenty second day Anno Domini seventeen hundred and sixty two received from the within named John Massey the sum of seven pence sterling for the alienation fine on the within land due to the right Honorable the Lord Proprietor of the Province of Maryland and for his use by: [illegible] Tilghman
