Daniel Massey to Gilbert Falconar, August 8, 1765

August 8, 1765: Gilbert Falconar, farmer, of Kent County in Maryland buys for 50 pounds a 300 acre parcel called London Bridge Renewed (adjacent to Honberry, owned by Humphrey Davenport) from Daniel Massey, gentleman, and wife Mary.  Acting for the Crown: James McLachlan and Samuel Thompson; John Nicholson; and Dennis Dulany, Kent County Clerk.
This indenture made this twenty fifth day of February in the year of our Lord seventeen hundred and sixty five between Daniel Massey of Kent County in the Province of Maryland, gentleman, and Mary, his wife of the one part and Gilbert Falconar of the aforesaid county and province, farmer of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Daniel Massey and Mary his wife for and in consideration of the sum of fifty pounds current lawful money of the aforesaid province to them in hand paid, receipt whereof they doth hereby acknowledge and confess themselves to be fully satisfied, contented, and paid and doth hereby discharge him the aforesaid Gilbert Falconar, his heirs, executors, and administrators, hereof forever and the said Daniel Massey and Mary his wife by these presents do grant, bargain, sell, release, and confirm unto the said Gilbert Falconar, his heirs, and assigns, forever all that parcel of land being part of a tract of land called London Bridge Renewed, lying and being in the aforesaid county near the head of Chester River. Beginning at a certain mulberry post, being the beginning of a tract of land called Honberry taken by Humphrey Davenport and running from thence North East two hundred and fifty perches fence South East two hundred perches to the second South West line of the aforesaid London Bridge renewed thence South West two hundred and fifty perches with the said line then North West two hundred perches to the first beginning, containing and now laid out for three hundred acres of land more or less, together with all houses and improvements thereon and all advantages and profits thereto belonging or in any wise appertaining and the reversion and reversions, remainder and remainders, rents and services thereof and also all the estate, right, title, interest, property, claim, and demand whatsoever of them the said Daniel Massey and Mary his wife both in and to the aforesaid premises in every part thereof. To have and to hold the said granted parcel of land and premises with all the appurtenances unto him this aforesaid Gilbert Falconar, his heirs, and assigns, forever to the only use of him the said Gilbert Falconar, his heirs, and assigns, forever and the aforesaid Daniel Massey and Mary his wife doth by these presents warrant and forever defend the said land and premises to the said Gilbert, his heirs, and assigns, forever from all manner of persons claiming to or to claim from by or under him. In witness whereof we the said Daniel Massey and Mary his wife heth hereunto set our hands and seals the day and year first above written.

Kent County aforesaid. Then came the within named Daniel Massey and Mary his wife before us, two of His Lordship's Justices of the Peace of the said County and province and did acknowledge the within deed and the land and premises therein mentioned onto this within named Gilbert Falconar, his heirs, and assigns, forever the 25th day of February 1765.

Received this 25th day of February Anno Domini 1765 from the within named Gilbert Falconar the sum of fifty pounds current lawful money of Maryland being in full for the purchase of the within land and premises.
