August 20, 1796: Lewis Blackiston of Kent County in Maryland buys, for 262 pounds, 10 shillings, three parcels called Massey's Venture Resurveyed, The Exchange, and Partnership, from Daniel Massey. Witnesses: John Thomas, and Ia. Parker. Ben Chambers is Kent County Clerk. |
This
indenture made the 14th
day of April in the year seventeen hundred and ninety six. Between
Daniel Massey of Kent County and
the State of Maryland of the one part and Lewis Blackiston of the
county and state aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said
Daniel Massey for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred and
sixty two pounds ten
shillings to him the said Daniel Massey in hand well and truly paid
the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged. He the said Daniel Massey
granted, bargained, sold, aliened, enfeoffed, and confirmed and doth by
these presents grant, bargain, sell, alien, enfeoff, and confirm unto
him the said Lewis Blackiston, his heirs, and assigns, all the right,
title, interest, claim, and demand whatsoever of him the said Daniel
Massey
either in law or equity of in and to all that tract or parcel of land
called Massey's Venture Resurveyed, also all the right, title, interest,
claim, and demand whatsoever either in law or equity of him the said
Daniel Massey of in and to another tract of land called Exchange and
also all the right, title, interest, claim, and demand whatsoever either
in
law or equity of him the said Daniel Massey of in into one other tract
or parcel of land called Partnership, the whole lying and being in Kent
County with all the right members and appurtenances together with with
all houses, buildings, orchards, gardens, pastures, meadows, woods,
underwoods, hereditaments, and appurtenances whatsoever to the same
tracts or parcels
of lands belonging or in any wise appertaining and the reversion and
reversions, remainder and remainders, rents, issues, and profits of the
said
premises and of every part and parcel thereof and all the estate,
right,
title, interest, claim, and demand whatsoever of him the said Daniel
Massey
which either said Daniel Massey could or might claim by and through his
father, Ebenezer Massey. To have and to hold all and singular the
premises hereby granted, bargained, and sold or mentioned or intended to
be hereby granted bargained and sold with their and every of
their rights members and appurtenances whatsoever unto the said Lewis
Blackiston and his heirs and assigns to the only proper use and behoof
of
them the said Lewis Blackiston and his heirs and assigns forever and the
said Daniel Massey for himself and his heirs the said tract or parcels
of land and all and every part thereof against him and his heirs against
all and every other person or persons whatsoever to the said Lewis
Blackiston and his heirs and assigns shall and will warrant and forever
defend by these presents. In witness whereof the parties to
these presents have here unto interchangeably set their hands and
affixed their seals the day and year first above written. Daniel Massey {seal}

delivered in the presence of John Thomas and Ia.Parker
Be it remembered that on the day of the date of these presents
personally did come before us, two of the Justices of the Peace for Kent
County Daniel Massey the grantor above named and did knowledge the
foregoing instrument of writing to be his act and deed and the lands and
premises therein mentioned to be the right and estate of Lewis
Blackiston, the grantee and his heirs and assigns forever according to
the true interest and meaning of the same deed.

Ia. Parker Received the day of the date of the foregoing deed from Lewis Blackiston the sum of two hundred and sixty two pounds ten shillings current money being the full consideration for the lands and premises therein mentioned.
