Unknowns, Non-Ferrous - Set 2 - Second specimen - M.I.T.'s #268
Aluminum casting at 200X etched
This is an aluminum casting.  Its overall hardness was measured as Rockwell B39 (pretty soft).

I made the fist two photomicrographs at 200X.

About now, most trained metallurgists are wishing there were some EDX data for the compositions of the various phases ... you might find something similar in the earlier lessons or on the Internet.

Try listing all the distinguishable phases (A, B, C, etc.) along with their locations, both in the images and  also in the order in which they formed during solidification.

The third photomicrograph is at 500X.
