The well-used Stanley 2101 jaws are at the top, with the user-made spring in place with user-made ring. The replacement Stanley jaws (not 2101's !) are below, with Stanley 2101 ring. |

Memorize the view at right. Note where the points of the springs come out ! Think of each jaw as a young kangaroo joey: it goes in head first & then flips over. |

In order to install the jaws, first string the ring onto the jaw, then slip the ring through the slot at the base of the chuck body; next, wiggle the spring through the slot, tilted so the wire gets past the ring at the central notch; and lastly, add the jaws onto the spring and screw the shell into place. |
