Yankee
Braces - A Type Study of Sorts
by
George Langford
February
17, 2007 - Revised September 5, 2008
Group
D - One 2nd-quality brace made after the fourth patent was issued -
in the ten inch size.
Even though someone has cleaned this brace vigorously, it remains in quite good condition. At first, I could not imagine why he ground away all vestiges of the "Yankee" trademark from the pad, but once I noticed that the 2101-10 IN identification was not present, I realized that this is a second-quality brace sold by North Bros., probably in an outlet store or a similar venue. |
I cannot find
the quality discrepancy that condemned this brace to its nameless fate,
except that the nickel
plating is more than half gone from the upper bow. It is
smoothly and fully functional, and it carries the citations of all four
patents. |
