B&D-57 Price: $65.00 plus shipping This brace is marked just Fulton, and the Directory of American Toolmakers isn't of much help with that company's history, as none of the entries refer to the manufacture of braces. Another Fulton brace is here. That said, this brace is complete and has two protected features well represented: the extra-thick pad carries a patented bearing mechanism, and the chuck has a patented mechanism for aligning its jaws. Both sets of patent drawings are reproduced at the bottom of this page.
The complex, ball-bearing wrist handle hasn't materialized in this or any other Wm. Peck-patented brace that I have seen. See also another Wm. Peck-patented brace here, with somewhat different arrangements. |
