Type D Spindle Nose & Chuck

Type D spindle nose & chuck Ted Sodt's Type D chuck and spindle housing

At far left is the only Millers Falls No.2 Type D drill I have found that has a taper to the outside of the front spindle-bearing housing. That would make it difficult to clamp this drill effectively in a hand-drill drill press.  The image at right is Ted Sodt's Type D drill that has a straight spindle housing.  Ted also sent another, bare Type D frame with a straight spindle housing that can be seen here.  Evidently, my "type" Type D drill is a "sport," made on a Monday or on a Friday.
