$6,001.00 to Abraham Gump, Junior, gentleman of Caroline County, lands
which were divided and partitioned for distribution amongst the heirs
of the said Turnell as Lot No.1, lying in Caroline County and
consisting of the following tracts: Whitehall,
part of Willente, part of Carmarthen,
part of Grubby Neck, part of Grubby Neck Addition, part of Chance, part of Farmers Fields, part of Boons Pleasure, part of Boons Covit, and part of Common Sense Discovered, all lying
contiguous to each other in the Upper Election District of Caroline
County and contained within the following metes and bounds: Beginning
for the out lines of the said Lot No.1 at a large white oak, it being
the first boundary of the above mentioned tract called Grubby Neck, and
thence running with the division lines of said lot and Lot No.1,
assigned by the commissioners aforesaid to Clarifor Purnell as follows,

Catherine V. Massey of Caroline County in the State of Maryland sell
for $174.30 to Peter Draper, also of Caroline County, all that part of
a tract of land located on the North side of the whole tract and on the
West side of the Choptank River within the following metes and bounds:
Beginning at a stone, a corner of said tract where he now resides
called by the name of [left blank !] and running South forty five
degrees West forty two and 7/10 perches, then South sixty and a half
degrees East one hundred fifty nine and a half perches, then North
nineteen degrees East thirty three and 6/10 perches, then North fifty
six degrees West one hundred and forty one perches to the first
beginning, containing thirty four acres, three roods and thirteen

14, 1863: William B. Massey of Caroline County in the State of Maryland
buys for $289.93 from Ezra M. Hitch and his wife Mary E. Hitch all that
tract located in Caroline County in Tuckahoe Neck that is called
Oxenhams Pleasure containing one hundred and eighteen acres and also
the two slaves Moses Hart and Aaron Hart, provided that if the said
Ezra M. Hitch shall pay on or before February 14, 1864, the said sum of
$289.93 with interest thereon from January 12, 1863, then this mortgage
shall become void; should default occur, then William B. Massey is
hereby authorized to sell the referenced land and slaves at public
auction with appropriate notice. Witnesses: Justice of the Peace Thomas

April 21, 1863: William B.Massey of
Caroline County in the State of Maryland in order to secure a debt of
$3,000.00 owed by James M. Whitby and
his wife Catharine Whitby, also of Caroline County, executes a mortgage
of contingent sale of their tract lying in Caroline County on the South
side of the main road leading from the Town of Greensborough to
Purnell's [Blacksmith] Shop adjoining the lands of the aforesaid
William B. Massey on the West, by William Delahay on the East, by
Doctor H. Rousett on the South, and containing two hundred and forty
acres, whereon the said James M. Whitby now resides, being the same
land and premises devised to the said James M. Whitby by his father
Nathan Whitby and by virtue of his Last Will and Testament, dated July
9, 1850, excepting the enclosed graveyard, and enrolled in the Registry
of Orphans Court of Caroline County, dated August 13, 1850. Witnesses:
