The
Type M was not made with a threaded spindle. Instead, the spindle is hollow,
with a tapered socket like an old style drill press. This example is fitted
with a simple (but well decorated) two-jaw chuck that has extremely limited
capacity. I have not yet tried to separate the male & female portions
of this joint, so I cannot say if this is the elusive No.0 Morse taper
or not.
