Note
William Tingle and B.F. Massey appear to have formed their partnership of Tingle & Massey in the 1838-1839 to operate as Merchant Traders.  They soon enlarged their interests to include Real Estate ventures.  Their business partnership activities came to an end 28 Feb.1844, when a Court ordered their Real Estate holdings sold at auction.  B.F. Massey then entered into a career in Missouri politics.  William Tingle resumed his career as a Merchant.[Ed.]

Kent Co., Md.: In his diary, 23.Ebenezer Thomas Massey, brother of 6.Benjamin Franklin Massey, wrote:
"Mr. Tingle, partner of Benjamin, I took to Ford's landing this morning on his wa[y] to Missouri.  He had a negro of his own.  He took with him to Franklin, [slave] Theodore, about 20 years old."

Note
We Know nothing of William Tingle's activities during the Civil War period.  But, between 1860, when he was classified in the Census as "Merchant," and 1870, when that Census classified him as "Farmer," he had ceased his Merchandising business.[Ed.]
