Note
|
William
Tingle
and
B.F.
Massey appear to have formed their partnership of
Tingle & Massey in the 1838-1839 to operate as Merchant
Traders. They soon enlarged their interests to include Real
Estate ventures. Their business partnership activities came to an
end 28 Feb.1844, when a Court ordered their Real Estate holdings sold
at auction. B.F. Massey then entered into a career in Missouri
politics. William Tingle resumed his career as a Merchant.[Ed.]

In
his diary, 23.Ebenezer
Thomas Massey, brother of
6.Benjamin Franklin
Massey, wrote:
"Mr. Tingle, partner of
Benjamin, I took to Ford's landing this morning on his wa[y] to
Missouri. He had a negro of his own. He took with him to
Franklin, [slave] Theodore, about 20 years old."

Note
|
We
Know
nothing
of
William Tingle's activities during the Civil War
period. But, between 1860, when he was classified in the Census
as "Merchant," and 1870, when that Census classified him as "Farmer,"
he had ceased his Merchandising business.[Ed.]
