Claire Co., Ill. a mile south of Cahokia.
His father, Adam Wilson Snyder, b.1799 at Connellsville, Pa., d. May
1842, at Belleville, Ill.; was a lawyer, an Illinois State Senator, a
Captain in the Blackhawk War, again a State Senator, and the Democratic
nominee for Governor of Illinois when he died suddenly.
His mother, nee Adelaide Perry, was of French ancestry of both sides,
and a grand-daughter of Capt. John Baptiste Saucier, the architect of
Fort Chartres.

University of Illinois exploration 1922-1927 proved the correctness of
his views, that there were cultural differences between different
prehistoric Indian tribes of southern and central Illinois.
